When Anna and I started Urban Vintage a few years back, we had big plans to quit our corporate jobs and start our own vintage furniture rental business. A little back story, we met at our local Crossfit box (6am class was our jam) and instantly connected over our love for all things vintage. We talked about if we could turn our passion for collecting vintage and styling furniture into an actual business. The plan was simple- leave the evil corporate world behind, achieve personal fulfillment, do something we both loved and most importantly be happy!
We saw a niche in our little town and with a little help from our awesome husbands Urban Vintage was born! We started the business with a lot of our own furniture but also enjoyed some fun afternoon thrift trips to source some pretty amazing pieces. Our time naturally became more and more limited as babies were born and we decided it was best for us and the company to go in different directions. We had our big warehouse sale and sold off most of our big pieces. Anna- thanks for the moral support through that haha (the hoarder in me was dying inside- but after it was all said and done, it felt pretty damn good to share it all with others).
Some amazing memories were made that I will cherish forever! I remember how giddy we were when we booked our first real event and funny moments like being big and pregnant trying to pull ourselves up into Anna's truck bed to lift a heavy sofa still make me smile! We both met so many talented and encouraging friendly folks along the way which I am forever grateful for!
So what's next for me? I feel very complete now that I am a mother and feel very blessed that I get to be at home raising my son Sawyer (who is 8 months old already...how is that possible?!) I also feel like the creative side of my brain will always need an outlet. It's always been a crazy dream of mine to make a career out of thrifting! So I've decided to take Urban Vintage down a different path and open up an online shop, so now I'll be able to share my love of collecting vintage treasures with you!
You will find a lot of what I like to collect in my own home- lots of bohemian vibes, mid-century modern, I love everything wicker, have a mild obsession with old books, brass animals and paintings, oh and plants and also lots of clothing! As much as I will always aspire to be a minimalist it's just not in my DNA. I'm a one woman show of sorts, working out of my home in Tequesta, Florida.
Thank you for following me on my journey!
